Pitruchaya, which in Sanskrit denotes Father's blessings,
is the home of Vaishali and Vijay Loke. The Loke residence is
an ideal and silent retreat with 2 rooms within the family home,
specially developed by Culture Aangan.
Where your eyes read your mind's eyes…
Nature lovers will love to watch rare birds flying home in flocks
or solitary birds perusing the landscape near the home. Also
don't be too surprised to be greeted by some unexpected fauna
scampering around during your early morning walks, which will
surely bring back pleasant childhood fairy tale memories. Peacocks
are often sighted close to the Loke residence especially before
the onset of the monsoons.
Nature, your eternal inspiration
This setting is a perfect haven for those who wish to lay back
and read or write in tranquility or for those who long for some
'alone time' for creative meditation and inspiration. The home
is open on the east and west front, so watching sunrise from
the terrace is a truly uplifting start to the day ahead.
AMENITIES
The room on the terrace is luxurious and airy with a view of
the meadows and mango orchards on all sides and a roadway that
runs past the front of the home, where an occasional vehicle
passes by. The bathroom on the terrace will certainly bring
a gleeful smile to your face, so be prepared for a soak-in for
hours and relax with nothing but peace and solitude for company.
There is also a room on the ground level alongside the other
family rooms which leads into a quaint indoor sky lit quadrangle.
This room offers cozy warmth with the shade of a full grown
papaya tree right outside your window from where you can also
admire the spectacular red-orange hues of the setting sun. There
is a bathroom attached to this bedroom as well.
The Loke residence can accommodate 4 persons comfortably and
a group of 6 with extra bed facilities.
THE HOSTS
The hosts Vaishali and Vijay Loke are a shy couple at first.
However they grow on you as you get to know them, as they are
enthusiastic, quietly helpful and their thoughtful gestures
without any prompting is indeed heart warming. Vaishali's culinary
expertise ranges from mouthwatering seafood and traditional
farmland variations with chicken from their own poultry farm
in the backyard to amazing fresh vegetarian fare cooked on firewood
-on special request. Also do ask Vaishali about some homemade
detox, ayurvedic and herbal decoctions, she has quite a few
secrets up her sleeve!
DAY
EXCURSIONS
There are several options for day excursions from this residence.
A visit to Vijaydurg
fort, the ancient Rameshwar Temple, Kunkeshwar temple
on the beach, a trek to Padagar waterfalls (highly recommended
for the adventurous), long hours at the Mithbhav beach with
packed hampers from Vaishali's kitchen, a visit to Devgad especially
to witness the fish auction of the early morning catch, strolls
along mango orchards with ample opportunity to cycle around
and explore smaller hamlets and villages such as Shirgaon, are
just some of the choices you can avail of when you are at this
home.

During our visit to Sindhudurg, we had the opportunity of availing
the kind hospitality of Vaishali and Vijay Loke. We were with
them for lunch and a short rest after the very tasty fare. They
are a very hospitable couple and wish we could spend more time
with them. We wish them all the very best in their venture.

We saw a lot of interesting things in the area and all these
old temples of the Marathi. Of course we enjoyed the beautiful
& lonesome beach. The food was extraordinarily good &
always too much, so we must escape now, not to gain weight.
